ABOUT US
Ex-Mormons for Jesus is a non-profit Christian evangelistic and teaching fellowship.
Our numbers include both former Mormons and non-Mormons who share the new birth experience of salvation through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are not supported by, or affiliated with any particular denomination, and extend the "hand of fellowship" to all members of the Body of Christ who wish to minister the love of Jesus Christ to the Mormon people.
Our primary message is evangelism, preaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
We agree with the Apostle Paul when he said of non-essential doctrines; "...let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind..." (Rom. 14:5). Obviously, we do hold to the essential points of doctrine which have unified the Body of Christ over the years. Specific highlights include agreement that the Bible is God's inerrant, eternal Word (Isa. 40:8). Eternal life with God is a free gift for those who have committed themselves, repented and trusted by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ for the removal of their personal sins. We hold to the tri-unity of the nature of God as revealed in the Bible, believing that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself by the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 5:19). We believe in good works as a result of a life transformed by God rather than a means of salvation (Eph. 2:8-9). And finally, we believe that the true "church" is not an organization, but is a "living organism" consisting of all of the ecclesia (called out believers) who make up the Body of Christ.
Ex-Mormons for Jesus has a two-fold mission.
The first is to win as many Mormons to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ as He may give us increase. We affirm that Christians and Mormons worship at completely different altars; that Mormonism has a "different Jesus, a different Spirit and a different gospel" (2 Cor. 11:4).
Our second goal is to warn and teach the Body of Christ how to defend against false prophets and wolves in sheep clothing (Matt. 7:15). Cults are deceptive and well trained, and the majority of Christians are not equipped to respond to them properly. We are a mission in your "back yard" and want to help you against the deception of Mormonism.
Since 60-80% of all converts to Mormonism come from a Christian background, we take the "Watchman of Ezekiel" call very seriously (Ez. 3:17-19)!
As many of us were once deceived victims ourselves, we must publicly expose and answer the attack of Mormon doctrine, lest our silence be thought of as approval! It is sad but true that in answering the many broad attacks made upon Christianity by the cult of Mormonism, we are often the ones who come off appearing to be "negative." Regardless of any appearances, we have no choice but to "earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints..." (Jude 3). |
